This is an Orienteering activity generator designed to assist in the creation of materials or enhance understanding of Orienteering and Cardinal Directions.
When specifying directions, make sure to capitalize North (N), South (S), East (E), and West (W).
The compass is divided into four equal-angled sectors by North, South, East, and West (the main quadrants). Each sector is further divided into intermediate directions, created from the names of the one on either side, always putting North/South first; such as North-West (NW), North-East (NE), South-West(SW), and South-East (SE). These in-between directions will be referred to as 'intermediate directions'.
Furthermore, each intermediate sector can be further divided through using the word "by" followed by the main quadrant (N/S/E/W) it is shifted in the direction of (by 11.25 degrees). For example, "NE by N" or "NEbN" indicates a direction 11.5 degrees (or one thirty-second) from the North-East direction nearer to the direction of North.
By combining these terms, you can form precise and concise communication within Orienteering related tasks, ensuring clarity with all parties.
